Since the economy is improving so much, the heads of banks deserve their mulit milliond dollar salaries. I think prison would be a better bonus.

Maybe not:
1) Goldman Sachs lied to congress about how many times they needed loans during the financial crisis at the discount window.
2) They (the banks) pledged defaulted bonds (In other words, worthless) as collateral for loans from the FED.
3) Bank of America sold Fannie Mae junk mortgages that were worth nothing. Fannie Mae sued, asking for their money back. B of A gave them 1 cent for every $1.00 that Fanny Mae spent of taxpayer money for worthless mortgages. Pretty good deal for B of A
4) They lied to congress about working with home owners by adjusting their principle on the mortgages they held to see if they could keep their homes. No banks that I know of did this in a transparent way.
5) AIG tried to get the Treasury to sell them back bonds that they had to give the government as collateral. They offered less then what the bonds were worth. The Treasury was going to sell them the mortgages until the FED stepped in and said, "Go to auction and get the most from the market place" Shut the door on the Treasury deal with AIG. Whoops!
I could go on about the underhanded things banks, AIG, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have done in the last 5 years - that ARe
Do you think banks upper echelon deserve these multi-million dollar bonuses? (They already make multi-million dollar paychecks.)
Do you think charging them for the crimes they committed is a better idea?
Do you think government approval for these bonuses is warranted?
